Joe Morris visited the school on October 20th 2017 to talk to the children in 4th, 5th and 6th class about his upcoming trip to CapeTown as part of the Niall Mellon Trust Fund . He showed the children a short film which gave them an insight into the type of volunteer work that he is involved in. During his next trip there in November, he will be involved in building schools as part of the Mellon Educate project. He is going to deliver jerseys collected by the pupils to children in some of these schools. On his return, he will talk to the children about his trip and show us some photographs of the children in their new jerseys!
PENPALSLast year, 4th Class with the help of Joe Morris working with the Niall Mellon Trust Fund, linked up with a primary school in Cape Town. Children from this school-Happy Valley Primary School and 4th class have exchanged letters. They hope to continue writing to each other and are in the process of writing letters which Joe will hand deliver on his next trip out there in November.
On his return from Cape Town, Joe sent us these pictures of the children in Happy Valley Primary School receiving their pen pal letters from us and wearing the jerseys that we sent out to them. They have also proudly displayed in their new classroom `The Friendship Flower` that we made for them!
